For those that don't know, Durango resident and D&S volunteer Bruce Anderson suffered a massive stroke on 21 Sep 2011, and spent two weeks in intensive care in a Denver hospital. He's still there and recovering, but is currently paralyzed on his left side. I know Bruce through his work with the D&S photo trips, and this is an incredibly sad turn of events. Al Harper has graciously offered to donate all proceeds from the 1850h Polar Express run on Nov 18 to Bruce's mounting medical bills.

Please, if you're thinking about riding, help fill this train and help out a great guy in need at the same time. Information on this special run can be found [on the D&S website], and more information about his condition can be found in [this Durango Herald article]. -

As a note, the 1850h run on November 18th will be a special fundraiser for Durango resident, volunteer, and all around great guy Bruce Anderson. Many of you who have been on various D&S trips will know Bruce as one of the railroad volund, and here's your chance to help him out. Bruce suffered a paralyzing stroke about two months ago, and Al Harper is donating all proceeds from this run to his mountain of medical bills. Details can be found [on the D&S website].

Early yesterday morning, the second unit on a westbound manifest suffered a generator fire near Steamboat Springs. The fire was spotted by a passer-by, and the Steamboat Fire Dept was called out to extinguish the blaze. Steamboat Today has the article and a couple pictures online [here]. - NDHolmes
