A PROGRESS UPDATE ON RTD's WEST LINE Posted Sunday, January 15 2012 at 2125 h MST Saturday was way too nice to stay inside, so I took a little tour up to Denver to check on RTD's progress with the new West Line. The line, formerly the D&IM and later operated by the D&RGW for several years as part of the Associated Railways (and the reason D&RGW 100 had a trolley pole), is now being rebuilt as a double-track light rail route. In its current state, the track and stations are nearly complete, and the gaps in the catenary wire are rapidly closing. Operations are projected to start in early 2013. For those unfamiliar with the route, RTD has an excellent map of the project [here].
Photos from the expedition can be found [here]. - NDHolmes
