WESTBOUND UP PASSENGER SPECIAL ON THE MOFFAT Posted Wednesday, October 8 2008 at 0954 h MDT UP 4947 is leading nine of UP's passenger cars west on SDVSC today, a special from Denver to Salt Lake. Kevin Morgan reported on the DRGW list that it passed Tabernash around 0800h this morning. I have no other information (such as if it might overnight in Grand Junction, as is typical - I just don't know), but for those of you out west - heads up! - NDHolmes
BNSF REAR-ENDS UP COAL EMPTY AT STATE BRIDGE Posted Monday, October 6 2008 at 1827 h MDT Sometime today, a westbound BNSF freight rear-ended an empty Union Pacific coal train near State Bridge, CO. Details are sketchy, but it looks like the collision occurred at relatively low speed, as the BNSF units stayed upright and mostly on the rails and only about ten empty aluminum coal gons derailed. Fortunately, reports indicate that there were no serious injuries to the BNSF crew. A photo of the incident and a brief article can be found in the Vail Daily [here]. - NDHolmes
