  • SALE OF COLORADO PORTION OF C&TS
    Posted Friday, August 15 2003 at 2148 h MDT
There have been some rumblings made official as of late that the State of New Mexico is interested in purchasing Colorado's half of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic. The Alamosa Valley Courier has two very interesting articles on the proposal - the initial story and then another one today covering the reasons it's not likely at the moment.

In other narrow gauge news, Durango & Silverton 473 has been repainted into the so-called bumble bee paint for this year's Railfest. It will stay this way for one month. The Durango Herald has an article about it here, complete with a photo. For those interested, Railfest runs from August 21 through August 24. -

  • NEW TRIP REPORT - UP 6936 AND THE ENGINEERING SPECIAL
    Posted Thursday, August 14 2003 at 0120 h MDT
I've posted the better photos from today's little adventure following the UP Wimmer Engineering Special from MP 23 on the Moffat down to just past Castle Rock on the Joint Line. As usual, either read the summary or jump straight to the photos. As a side note, after dark, BNSF 5600 had another stall, and UP 6936 was called to finish pushing the train over Palmer Divide. If only it had been during the daylight... Enjoy! - NDHolmes

  • CENTENNIAL OVER THE MOFFAT & J/L
    Posted Wednesday, August 13 2003 at 0950 h MDT
UP 6936 will be pulling a UP passenger special over the Moffat and down the Joint Line this afternoon. It tied up in Helper, UT, last night, and was due into Grand Junction at 0830 this morning. Expected arrival at North Yard is 1400h, and then on to Pueblo by 1600h. Have fun and be safe, everyone, and thanks to Paul B. for the information. Update (8/13 - 1240h): It's apparently running about an hour late, expected into Pueblo at 1715h. It went past Silt, CO, at 1055h this morning. See y'all trackside! - NDHolmes

  • AND THE TRACE IS SAVED... AGAIN
    Posted Friday, August 1 2003 at 1736 h MDT
Thanks to another new data source, who shall again remain anonymous for his/her own good, the trace is nearly back on line. Now, go forth and get those Grandes! Update (8/4 - 1109h): Well, the data's there and everything's patched together. Everything's available from the usual spot. - NDHolmes
