The Reliance Branch was built in 1912 on 5.4 miles of the old narrow gauge alignment over La Veta Pass. The branch started from the standard gauge main just west of La Veta at Reliance Jct. and proceeded up towards the old pass. It served the Ojo Mines at Reliance. It was eventually pulled up in 1939.
