Tank Creek is the site of a water tank at milepost 474.65 on the Silverton Branch of the San Juan Extension. The original 50,000 gallon wooden water tank was torn down in late 1966. The replacement is the body of a narrow gauge tank car, fitted with a water spout. Both tanks were fed by gravity from the stream that crosses under the tracks here. Few photos exist of the original Tank Creek tank, largely due to its positioning on a hard-to-shoot curve. The tank sat up on the rocks, without the usual wooden support legs.
