Chandler Creek Branch Facts The Oak Creek branch was one of the coal branches built south from the Royal Gorge Route between Pueblo and Canon City. The 3 mile branch was built in 1881 as narrow gauge from Oak Creek Junction southward to mines along, appropriately enough, Oak Creek. By 1890, the branch was standard gauged, but only a few years later, in 1905, the mines were closed and the branch scrapped. |
