Orestod was the original junction between the Dotsero Cutoff and the Denver & Salt Lake's Moffat Route, located just to the east of Bond.

The name is very likely a reversal of Dotsero?, a reference to the station which lies at the opposite end of the Dotsero Cutoff.

Today, the location is referred to by Union Pacific crews as "Center Bond", in reference to it being the center crossovers in what's become a long, continuous yard.
