D&RGW 2-8-0 Class C-18 318 at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado on August 26, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built by Baldwin in March 1896 ( c/n 14769 ) as Florence & Cripple Creek 8, named GOLDFIELD, became D&RG 428 ( Class 72 ) in 1917, in 1924 renumberd to D&RGW 318 ( Class C-18 ), donated to CRM in 1954. You got to give the museum credit for parking this locomotive in a nice spot. I almost edited out the pole sprouting out of the stack, but chose to leave it in.
