A carman confers with the head end crew of the 3113. They are probably doing an air test before departure. Meanwhile, the 5304 is shoving the train together on the adjacent track as the 5393W on the right departs.

3113 departs the yard. Looks like the 5304 has cut away from the other eastbound and is waiting for the 3113 to clear.

Later in the afternoon, the trains and cuts seen earlier are gone. Coal trains now occupy the tracks to the right.

An older SD unit (the 5304?) sits in the night light at the top of the hump awaiting its next move. To the left an intermodal train is moving past.

A trainman lines the switch to the loadout track at Somerset in October of 1978. They will shove back, tie on to the empty hoppers and begin loading the train.

Loading at Somerset has begun. The yellow corners on the cars indicate that they are assigned to US Steel at Geneva, UT. This train could be either a 733 or 783.

Bringing up the rear of an eastbound, caboose 01443 is seen at Newcastle, CO 10-7-79
