1) Yesterday I caught an empty rail train coming down Big 10. =C2=A0It had =
a quartet of UP units on it (ES44's, SD70M's). =C2=A0Unfortunately I got ex=
cited and didn't set up my camera right, so I must see if I can save the im=
ages with Lightroom before I try to publish them anywhere. =C2=A0Stand by f=
or that. =C2=A0Incidentally, there was an extensive UP MOW train parked on =
the house track at Rocky, with all kinds of equipment on flatcars.
2) Passing through Del Norte, I was startled to discover a lot of general f=
reight cars parked to the east and west of the former depot, now the city a=
dministrative offices. =C2=A0I did get photos of those cars, but will send =
them out at same times as photos from (1). =C2=A0Admittedly I haven't been =
in that area for 2 years, but I don't think I have ever seen equipment stor=
ed in town there, and the last few times in the area there was nothing on t=
he Creede line at all. =C2=A0Speaking of which:
3) It wasn't just in Del Norte that the SLRG was storing cars. =C2=A0To the=
west were hundreds more cars-- tanks, covered hoppers, and a LOT of ex-CN =
coal gons now lettered for FURX. =C2=A0They stretched intermittently all th=
e way to South Fork, and there was even a cut of gons extending across the =
bridge over the Rio Grande in town.
Yes, the water tower is still standing in South Fork, and yes, the 2 D&RG p=
assenger cars and the 44-tonner are still parked across the highway from it=
.
