Driving from Montrose thru Junction and on east, noted the following:
1) no cars spotted in Montrose at the old wood chipper loading location, no=
t even scrap metal gons which we had seen there in May. Too dark to see any=
thing at the lumber places north of there.=C2=A0
2) The BNSF yard at Grand Valley had exactly two 2-bay hoppers in it. Howev=
er, that industrial facility further east was crowded-- many 54-ft hoppers =
along the south tracks, many 2-bays closer to I-70.=C2=A0
3) Main line was awfully quiet yesterday morning, although was pleasantly s=
urprised =C2=A0to see an EB UP coal load stopped in Glenwood. I couldn't se=
e either end but did see 3 remotes mid-train.=C2=A0
Also got a good loom at the bridge replacement project there. Looks pretty =
far along.=C2=A0
4) Quite a few loaded centerbeams spotted at the wallboard plant at Gypsum.=
Glad to see a western Colorado industry still producing something. Also, t=
here was a UP highliner truck parked east of town, crew doing something at =
a signal shack there. I thought that trackage was basically ignored now so =
this surpised me. =C2=A0 And, the bridge on the east side of Eagle still ha=
s the Rio Grande herald painted in it, and I wish I had stopped for a photo=
.=C2=A0
