Assuming we=E2=80=99re talking about the old MDC 9-panel triple hopper mode=
l, they were more like a stand-in than an outright fantasy model. Although =
crude by today=E2=80=99s standard, they do in fact resemble the D&RGW 18500=
-18999 series cars, which were 42-8 IL 9-panel triples built by Mt Vernon C=
ar in 1952. A big difference is the model has riveted car sides, while the =
D&RGW cars were welded. The Atlas Trainman model is a similar stand-in with=
much better detail, but it, too, has a riveted carbody.
