Feed lots and farmers. Farmers running a smaller operation, would put in
a load of hay, (barns) feed the small herd through the winter, then sell, when
ever they needed the money, and or beef prices were to their liking.
Early in the morning, over the radio. "The Farm Report" would include
the going prices of corn, oats, hogs etc. Just like Wall Street they would
watch for trends.
